Wiessbeir & Wine Patong

By on October 10, 2012 in Beer & Booze

While walking on a main road in Patong  (Rat-u-tit) we spotted the sign for some German Wiess beer.  At first we could not work out where it was but finally realised entrance was via a narrow path along side a block that included some massage parlors.  Right behind the block was a German restaurant called Wiessbeir & Wine.  We had planned to eat Thai but after sitting down and ordering some beers we decided to order some German food.  Since being in Thailand we have seldom had anything other that Thai food.

First to the beers.   During high season which is fast approaching they actually have beer on top but for the time being it is only by the bottle.  The first beer we ordered was the Franziskaner and it was excellent.  Up there with Memminger and high on my list now.

We followed this up with a dark beer which is normally my favorite.

The Hofbrau Dunkal was very disappointing.  It’s funny how we had almost the same experience a few days before at another German restaurant with a dark and light Wiess beer.

With regard to the German food it was very good and I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Phuket.  they have a website which i have not even looked at but happy to give it a plug.  www.weissbierandwine.com
